Your Workshop Destination

By the end of this session, you should see more possibility in what you have created, understand where that larger world could live, and feel ready to begin developing it at a scale you can actually achieve.

The Core Idea

One World. Many Stories.

A story can be complete as a standalone. A story world can be a collection of standalones. A Storyverse can be both—or a collection of intentionally interconnected narratives living within the same shared world. Your current work remains whole while related stories, histories, media, and audience experiences gather around it.

Different Media Open Different Doors

Choose What Serves the World

Written Story

Interior thought, language, reflection, history, and sustained point of view.

Film & Video

Performance, movement, setting, scale, and visual juxtaposition.

Audio

Voice, testimony, atmosphere, intimacy, and recovered material.

Games & Interactive

Exploration, choice, systems, discovery, autonomy, and consequence.

Graphic & Visual

Design, sequence, visual relationships, artifacts, and spatial information.

Lore, Maps & Histories

Context, depth, orientation, cultures, and events beyond the primary story.

Find Your First Door

Questions to Carry Through the Workshop

What work or idea could become an audience’s first entry point?

What larger world can you already sense around it?

What remains outside the audience’s experience if this is their only door?

Which characters, places, events, objects, or unused materials already hold energy?

What could another medium allow the audience to understand, feel, or experience differently?

Unhinge the Possibilities

Build first. Judge later. The strange idea may contain the living spark. Generate at least ten possibilities—including ideas that feel too small, too ambitious, too odd, or unlike anything you have made before.

Choose one idea to carry forward.

Your first build does not need to prove the entire world. It only needs to open a door.

The Next Door

Expansion should deepen the world rather than merely multiply content. You remain the steward of what belongs, what remains private, and how the world grows.
